bud water?

A couple of nights ago, I got an email from a volunteer I met at headquarters. She was assigned to work at a shelter in southern Mississippi. According to her, nearby Biloxi was seriously wiped out. There are still bodies lying around in areas of southern Mississippi, and not far from where she is working, the stench of death still lingers. People in the area are struggling to receive financial assistance. The Red Cross service centers remain scarce with many already at full capacity, and the toll-free number is jammed with calls. All the evacuees can do is go to a shelter and simply wait.
For those of you who have donated to the Red Cross, rest assured that your money is getting to evacuees. I have personally written hundreds of checks.
There is still a long way to go for the people of the gulf coast. The disaster relief process goes on even as the media turns its attention to other topics. Donations and volunteers will still be needed for a long time…
